Sister Rita Mary Perl entered the Sisters of Notre Dame community from St. Mary (now Divine Mercy Parish) in Massillon, where she also taught at the school. Sister Rita Mary loved teaching primary grade children in the Youngstown and Cleveland dioceses. She also ministered for many years in Raleigh, North Carolina, as coordinator of student services and tutor. Sister now resides at the SND Center in Chardon.
