April 29 marks 75 years since the ordination of Monsignor James Kolp. The North Canton native passed away February 6 at age 99. On his diamond jubilee, Monsignor Kolp is remembered as a humble servant of God, and a true presence in the Diocese of Youngstown.
The Eagle of the Cross Award is given out annually to juniors and seniors in high school within the six counties of the Diocese of Youngstown. The winners have shown the ability to improve their own parish ministry programs, high school ministry teams or youth work in general within the diocese.
The Voice of Hope dinner in its current form was first held in 2000. And each year, an award is given out to individuals or organizations who help celebrate the unity and identity of the Catholic Charities’ Services in the Diocese of Youngstown.
