An Austintown native, Sister Mary graduated from Ursuline High and became an Ursuline Sister of Youngstown in 1975.

Having been previously married Sister Gay is a “sister mom.” She entered the Humility of Mary Community from the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Charleston, South Carolina in 1999 when her son and daughter were adults.

In 2000, he was ordained a deacon for the Youngstown Diocese by Bishop Tobin and since then has served the community of Holy Spirit Church in Uniontown.

On Christmas Eve of this year, His Holiness Pope Francis will open a yearlong celebration known as a Jubilee. The Jubilee will be centered on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope.”
