
Sister Maureen Tighe-Brown (Sister M. Peter Claver) entered the Humility of Mary Community in October 1959 from St. Joseph (now Our Lady of Peace Parish) in Ashtabula. Upon graduation from Saint John High School in Ashtabula, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from St. John College of Cleveland, a Master of Science in Nursing from Case Western University in Cleveland and a Master of Arts along with a Doctoral Studies in European Jewish History from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a lifelong self-taught linguist.
Sister Maureen worked as a nursing instructor and coordinator of psychiatric and mental health nursing at St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Youngstown, for nearly 20 years where she found great fulfillment in the academic and personal success of her students. In 2008, she would utilize her nursing skills to care for her ailing mother.
She previously served at St. Patrick Parish in Youngstown, where she visited hospitalized parishioners and assisted families in the preparation of wake and funeral services for their loved ones.
Today, Sister Maureen serves as a driver for sisters who reside at the Villa and require transportation to medical appointments. She remains on call for sisters to provide support in the event of hospitalization or medical emergency. To congratulate Sister Maureen, contact the Humility of Mary Community.
