Sister Mary Therese Berry, formerly Sister M. Teresa, entered the Humility of Mary Community in 1959 from St. Leo Parish in Cleveland. She professed her perpetual vows in 1966. Sister Mary Therese is a 1958 graduate of Lourdes Academy, Cleveland, and she received her BA (Cum laude) from Notre Dame College, Cleveland, her MA from Middlebury College, Middlebury, Vermont, and her PhD from The Ohio State University, Columbus.
She has served the people of God as an educator and pastoral minister in the Cleveland and Youngstown dioceses. Her teaching ministry included Canton Central Catholic High School; Magnificat High School in Rocky River; Erieview Catholic High School, Cleveland; and Archbishop Hoban High School in Akron where she was assistant principal. She served as an education consultant and then was director of curriculum and instruction for the Cleveland Diocesan Office of Education. Fluent in French, she shared her love of the language with adults at Uniroyal Goodrich in Akron. She translated early archival documents of the HM Community’s founders and led pilgrimages to France with sisters and associates in the HM communities from Pennsylvania and Iowa. She currently serves in the HM Ministry of Prayer at Villa Maria Community Center.
