Sister Linda Valasik (Sister Mary Stephanie) graduated from Lourdes Academy, Cleveland, Ohio in 1958. She entered the Humility of Mary Community in October 1958 from St. Francis de Sales Parish in Parma, Ohio, and earned her BSE at St. John College in Cleveland, her MRE (Religious Education) at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and her MM (Ministry) at Seattle University in Seattle, Washington.
Sister Linda ministered as a teacher and Pastoral Associate in the Dioceses of Cleveland, Atlanta, Pittsburgh and Youngstown for 27 years. As adult literacy instructor she prepared adults for their GED Certificate and taught English as a Second Language in Portage County, Ohio. She served on the Membership and Affiliation Team for the HM Community.
She joined The Center for Learning for 14 years as Coordinator of Parish Publications and then as Coordinator of the Religion Division, in Rocky River/Westlake, Ohio and Villa Maria. Sister Linda has volunteered in the Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery at Akron Children’s Hospital, Mahoning Valley, at Villa Maria Farm, and with the Villa Maria sisters’ prayer shawl ministry. Currently, she participates in a book donation ministry which sends religious publications to colleges and seminaries in under-resourced countries and to monasteries/religious communities and prisons in the United States.
