10 Seminarians

The Diocese of Youngstown has 10 seminarians this year, all studying at Borromeo Seminary Cleveland, Saint Mary Seminary in Wickliffe, Ohio, or Saint Vincent Seminary in Latrobe, Pennsylvania.

3 Ordinations

In addition to the deacon ordinations in September, we anticipate two ordinations to the priesthood in 2024—that of transitional deacons Kevin Bertleff and William Wainio—and Travis Seagraves’ ordination as a transitional deacon.

$106,400 in Parish Collections

Various groups support vocations annually. In 2023, the diocese received $17,600 from the Knights of Columbus, $106,400 during the annual vocations collection at parishes and $35,000 at the first annual Bishop’s Golf Outing—in addition to targeted occasional donations from supporters.

$300,000 per Seminarian

The diocese pays for its seminarians from college through ordination. In 2023, this cost was approximately $300,000 per seminarian. Visit doy.org/seminarians to donate to the Seminarian Support Collection today.
