Sister Eileen Kernan – 70 Jubilee


Sister Eileen Kernan ministers in spiritual direction, contributing to the Ursuline Sisters’ community outreach through social media. Previously known as Sister Maureen, Sister Eileen provided spiritual direction gatherings at the Motherhouse and in parishes. She also worked in ministry for many years at St. Joan of Arc Parish in Streetsboro, Ursuline College in Cleveland, St. Rose Parish in Girard and St. Aloysius (now Holy Trinity Parish) in East Liverpool.

Sister Eileen also ministered in education, serving as an office manager at Ursuline High School, Youngstown, and a teacher at St. John School in Campbell, Holy Family School in Poland, St. Nicholas School in Struthers, St. Rose School in Girard and St. Charles School in Boardman, where she also served as a principal.


A Youngstown native, Sister Eileen earned a master’s degree from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, a master’s in pastoral ministry from Ursuline College in Cleveland, and a baccalaureate in education from YSU. She holds additional professional certifications.
