Sister Helen Jean Novy- 65th Jubilee

Sister Helen Jean Novy, formerly Sister M. John Mark, entered the Humility of Mary Community in 1959 from Blessed Sacrament Parish in Cleveland. She professed her perpetual vows in 1966. As an educator she has served a total of 59 years at Saint John School, Ashtabula, Canton Central Catholic High School, and, for 49 of those years, at Magnificat High School in Rocky River. For ten years she also was a part-time educational consultant with the Office of Education of the Diocese of Cleveland.

During her years at Magnificat she has been a teacher, curriculum director, director of mission, vice president of mission and interim president. Since 2020 she has served on a part-time basis as vice-president of mission emerita. Sister Helen Jean is a voracious reader and has written both poetry and prose for publication. Sister Helen Jean is a 1958 graduate of Villa Maria High School, Villa Maria, Pennsylvania. She received her BA (Magna cum Laude) from Notre Dame College, Cleveland, and her MALS (Liberal Studies) from Wesleyan University, Middletown, Conn.
