Catholic Charities agencies in the Diocese of Youngstown are joining with the Catholic Charities network around the country to participate in “We Are There,” a national awareness campaign highlighting the life-giving services Catholic Charities agencies provide in their local communities.

“At Catholic Charities, we are guided by the mission of compassion and service. In every act of kindness and every service provided, we strive to be a beacon of hope and love for our community,” said Rachel Hrbolich, diocesan director of Catholic Charities Diocese of Youngstown. “This national campaign, We Are There, beautifully underscores our commitment to standing with our neighbors through every challenge they face. Together, with support from the communities we serve, we can continue to make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it most.”

For over 100 years, the work at Catholic Charities across the diocese has brought comfort, hope and relief to our neighbors in need, regardless of their faith. Their services currently reach every county in the diocese: Ashtabula, Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark and Trumbull.

Catholic Charities’ mission is to extend the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to those who are poor, vulnerable, and without hope. Through tangible assistance and other essential services, Catholic Charities affirms human dignity, meets basic human needs, strengthens families, builds communities, and empowers others to transform their lives.

The work that Catholic Charities does in the Diocese of Youngstown mirrors services provided at Catholic Charities agencies around the country. There are 168 independent Catholic Charities agencies and 3,900 collective locations across the United States and its five territories. Collectively, the Catholic Charities network served more than 15 million people last year and provided more than 30 million meals to those in need, with help from Catholic Charities agencies’ staff and more than 215,000 volunteers nationwide. The services offered at each local Catholic Charities agency differ because they are tailored to the specific needs of the vulnerable members of their individual communities.

Catholic Charities USA, the national membership organization for Catholic Charities agencies, organized and launched the We Are There campaign. Over the coming months, the campaign will raise awareness for the work of Catholic Charities through a variety of national media outlets. Here in the Diocese of Youngstown, Catholic Charities will continue to highlight the different ways we aid and accompany our neighbors in need.
