In 2023, St. Columba Cathedral Parish hosted an art contest for students in diocesan Catholic schools to decorate the new wooden covers for the cathedral’s exterior uplighting, which had become a tripping hazard. Winners included four students from Canton Central Catholic, 18 from Holy Family School in Poland, six from St. Mary School in Massillon, two from St. Paul School in Salem and one from St. Joseph the Provider School in Youngstown.
