The Good News: December 2023 – January 2024

Manger set up at St. Columba Cathedral
St. Columba Cathedral acquired a new manger scene for Christmas this year. The manger came from St. Bartholomew Parish in the Penn Hills neighborhood of Pittsburgh, where Bishop Bonnar served as pastor from 2002 to 2007. While there, he worked with Sister Dorothy Pawlus, who now lives in Austintown and serves as his Executive Assistant. St. Bartholomew Church has since closed, and Bishop Bonnar is pleased that the cathedral was able to acquire its beautiful manger scene. “It is a little piece of Pittsburgh history, right here in Youngstown—my new home,” he said.
