Catholic Charities’ Back-to-School campaign supports students around the diocese attending Catholic schools and public schools alike. Walsh University, College of Distinction
Walsh University was recently honored as a National 2023-2024 College of Distinction and Ohio College of Distinction. Walsh also earned program-specific recognitions for its DeVille School of Business, the Gary and Linda Byers School of Nursing and the Division of Education in the School of Arts, Sciences and Education, as well as recognitions of the school’s Catholic faith, military support, affordability and career development. Rhoda Wise Mass
Bishop Bonnar celebrated the Annual Mass to pray for the Cause of Servant of God Rhoda Wise on July 7, 2023. This year’s Mass included a visit from Valentina Culurgioni, who last year became the Vatican’s new postulator of the Cause for Rhoda Wise. Rhoda Wise was a Canton woman who died in 1948 and is being considered by the Church for beatification, a step towards possible sainthood. Diocesan Appointments
Since the publication of the last issue of The Catholic Echo, the diocese has made the following appointments: Kathleen Ott was named consultant for Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry, Very Rev. Kevin Peters was appointed diocesan director of Rural Life and Ministry and Cristina Hernandez was named diocesan coordinator of Hispanic Ministries. All appointments became effective July 1, 2023.
