The origins of St. Joseph Calasanctius Parish can be traced back to the 1850s. At the time, Catholicism was still largely persecuted in America, but the Catholic community in Jefferson requested a Mass from Bishop Joshua Young of Erie, Pennsylvania.
This year, Immaculate Conception Parish in Ravenna is celebrating its 170th anniversary. The parish can trace its history back to 1853, when a group of eight Catholic railroad workers living in Earlville, which is known today as Twin Lakes, began worshipping together.
