Raised in Akron, Sister Kathleen graduated in 1949 from Villa Maria High School, in Villa Maria Pennsylvania, and entered the Humility of Mary Community in January 1950 from St. Sebastian Parish, in Akron. She professed her perpetual vows in 1955.

In 1958 she completed her undergraduate work at the former Seton Hill College, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, and earned her MA from the University of Notre Dame in 1964.

Sister Kathleen King was a dynamic and engaging teacher and administrator serving in the Cleveland, Pittsburgh and Youngstown dioceses over a span of 36 years. Following her years in the schools, she was appointed to the HM Membership and Affiliation Team. During this time, she dedicated herself to directing a volunteer service program for young adult volunteers with placements in both the United States and Central and South America.
