Growing your Reach on Social Media – A few random ideas from Cindee Case
We would all like to have more followers, likes, shares, comments, etc., but how can we get them? Here are a few ideas for your consideration in no particular order:
· Interactive Content for increased Engagement:
o Submit a question (for Father…. Our staff… about our parish, etc.)
o Ask for any prayer requests (especially good prior to a special Mass, adoration, prayer service, etc.)
o Polls
o Contest/giveaways
o Invite followers to add your {blank} in the comments – for example, we have asked for photos of a Station of the Cross, Creche, fish fry dinner, etc.
o Ask a question (Guess the Saint of the Day, Where is this picture from?, What is something you learned from your Mom, what is your favorite prayer? etc.)
o “Caption this” photo
o When posting a group photo, encourage “tagging”
· Requesting followers “share” or retweet a post on their page/account
· FB/IG invitation to “follow” a page with those who interacted (great to do after you had a post, photo or video have a lot of engagement… can specify to only invite those who liked or loved, if you like.)
· Use Hashtags in posts
· Paid ads
· Follow/friend more people so they might also follow you
· Comment/add content on larger sites that have similar audiences (as it might expose more people to your page’s existence)
· Brand your graphics (so that if they are shared separately from your post, future viewers will know that your account exists)
· Make sure your social media accounts are linked to the parish/school/agency webpage and printed (or QR Codes) on key print materials (bulletin, newsletters, event flyers, etc.)
(All this being said, do remember to keep your primary audience and your mission in mind!)
