Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center Yoga: Living Union Workshop

Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center (VMESC) will offer Yoga: Living Union with Dan Rotnem. This one-day workshop will invite participants on a journey into the world of yoga. Yoga, meaning union, is a general term for a rich, spiritual lifestyle that promises to reunite the devotee with the divine. Over the course of the day, we will survey the core teachings and practices of this living tradition. We will intersperse periods of practice with periods of study, exploring sacred texts and teachings alongside the yogi’s actual physical and meditative practices. Topics will include: Samples of yoga’s sacred literature, the role of asana (postures), prana (breath/energy), and discipline for the modern yogin, the 4 Paths and 8 Limbs of yoga, and key yoga philosophy, terms, and history. Participants will leave with an experiential understanding of yoga’s unifying principles and how they can support a grounded, devotional, and embodied life.
