A by-the-numbers view of the positive, exceptional or interesting events happening around the diocese this month

531 Seniors Graduating

To help form young Catholics in the faith, the Diocese of Youngstown fosters 25 schools and seven pre-school programs in all six of the counties of the diocese.

There are Catholic elementary schools in each county. A total of 6,042 students in kindergarten through grade 12 attend one of  the 25 Catholic schools in the diocese—including  1,626 high school students and 4,416 in kindergarten through eighth-grade.

6,042 Students Enrolled K-12

These include two high schools (grades 9-12), two junior/senior high schools (grades 6-12), one pre-K-grade 12 school, six pre-K-grade 8 schools, seven grades 1-8 schools, two pre-K-grade 6 schools, two pre-K-grade 5 schools and two kindergarten-grade 5 schools.

Moreover, there are 351 students enrolled in one of the diocesan pre-school programs. These include five early childhood learning centers—Austintown St. Joseph, Boardman St. Luke, Boardman St. Charles, Poland Holy Family and Youngstown St. Christine.

Millions of Dollars in Scholarships Earned

Later this month, 531 seniors are set to graduate from one of six Catholic high schools—Ashtabula Saint John, Canton Central Catholic, Louisville St. Thomas Aquinas, Warren John F. Kennedy (JFK), Youngstown Cardinal Mooney and Youngstown Ursuline. 

Though this year’s graduates are still receiving and considering scholarship offers, based on past years, scholarship offers for the graduates from the six high schools are expected to total in the millions.
