Within the month of February are National Marriage Week (February 7 to 14) and World Marriage Day (Sunday, February 9). To honor these observances, below are resources focused on promoting marriage and the family.

The Joy of Love, by Pope Francis: The Joy of Love guides the faithful through Scripture, tradition, ministry, love and spirituality—all of it addressing these areas through the perspective of the realities of life in the 21st century.

Finding Christ in Your Marriage (Six Weeks with the Bible), by Kevin and Louise Perrotta: For Christians, there can be no better way to understand what marriage should be like than by studying marriage in the Bible. From Genesis to the Gospels to Paul’s letters, examples of marriage in the Bible can help husbands and wives improve their own marriages. Finding Christ in Your Marriage is an excellent Bible study for any married couple who wants to grow closer to each other while growing in their commitment to God.

Marriage: Sacrament Series, by Cardinal Jorge Medina Estevez: This booklet not only presents the Church’s teaching on the beautiful Sacrament of Matrimony, it also provides a wealth of practical advice for marriage preparation. Additionally, it covers the often-confused topics of divorce and annulment in a warm, charitable manner.

To borrow these or other resources, the diocesan library and Office of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry are open for in-person visits and consultations 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
