Word of God Sunday, which will be celebrated during the weekend of January 25 & 26, is a time to celebrate and study the Scriptures. Below are resources to help you in this endeavor. Learn more about Word of God Sunday on page 27.

Praying with Scripture (Guided Reflections for Children), by Loyola Press. Praying with Scripture contains 10 guided reflections that invite children to use their imaginations and help them develop a closer relationship with Jesus through prayer. It is designed for use by catechists, teachers and parents of children in the elementary grades.

Little Rock Scripture Study: Angels in the Bible, by George Smiga. The Bible is full of passages in which angelic beings are sent to accomplish God’s will. In Angels in the Bible, George Smiga examines some of the Bible’s most fascinating passages about angels, exploring their ministry on God’s behalf and drawing insights for our own spiritual lives. Because angels are mediators of God’s presence and action, studying angels is studying God. Commentary, study and reflection questions, prayers and access to online video lectures are included.

Eucharist, Bread of Life (Alive in the Word), by Father Joshua Whitfield. God feeds His people. In the desert, God’s covenant with Israel was sealed through sacrifice and a meal. On the altars of our churches, God continues to feed us with the bread and wine of the New Covenant—the food and drink that is Christ himself. In Eucharist, Bread of Life, Father Joshua Whitfield explores three Scripture passages and helps us rediscover this enduring mystery, from the heights of Sinai to the depths of our own hearts and lives.

To borrow these or other resources, the diocesan library and Office of Faith Formation and Lay Ecclesial Ministry are open for in-person visits and consultations 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
