230 Weddings
According to statistics from the diocesan chancellor’s office, in 2023, 230 couples celebrated the sacrament of Marriage in parishes across the six counties of the Diocese of Youngstown.
187 Anniversaries
Each year, the diocesan Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life organizes two Masses for couples celebrating significant wedding anniversaries: 25, 40, 50 years and over. In 2023, 119 couples celebrated their anniversaries at a Mass at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown in May and, in October, 68 couples celebrated their anniversaries at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton—totaling 187.
7 Retreats
The Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Life organizes several retreats each year for engaged couples, to assist them in preparing for their lifelong vocation to marriage. There are seven of these day-long retreats planned for 2024. Upcoming dates are April 6, May 11 and June 8.
